Man, we genuinely can’t put into words how much we love these two people and their wedding in Verona! If there was a time machine that could transport us back to May in Italy with Anna and Riccardo we’d totally jump in it! They let us into their hearts, treated us like old friends and it was one of those wedding days that we would give anything to be a part of again.
We arrived in Venice a couple of days before-hand and Anna and Riccardo were kind enough to take a day off and show us the sights and sounds of this surreal and amazing city. At the end of the day they took us to one of their favourite restaurants (you know the food is going to be good when the menu is only in Italian) just of the main tourist strip for some of the best gnocchi we’ve ever had and then we jumped in the car and headed towards Verona together.
Anna, being in the wedding industry herself (she’s a mega-talented photographer) knew the exact vibe she wanted to have for her wedding day… honest, fun, zero stress, good grub and focusing on what really matters to them most. Right away it was very obvious to us that Anna and Riccardo’s connection with family and close friends was the most important part of their lives and their wedding day reflected this.
Anna grew up in Verona so this beautiful city holds a very special place in her heart. After a relaxing morning getting ready in her family home, it was just a short drive to the church and then a fun walk with friends through the city to Caffe Dante Ristorante for their laid-back reception in the main square.
To top things off we were even able to catch the incredible Verona evening light for some portraits.
Anna and Riccardo were two of the most caring, down-to-earth and genuine people we’ve ever met and thinking of these guys and their wedding day brings a smile to our faces.
VENICE
Wow what a gorgeous setting for a wedding and a beautiful couple!
Anna, you are so beautiful and styled. The photos are gorgeous.
[…] Being mainly a wedding photographer myself, it has been quite a thing to be on the other side of the camera for my own wedding a few months ago. It definitely made me grow as a photographer but most of all it has been an incredible human experience: Riccardo and I have been lucky enough to have Johanna & Dylan of The Kitcheners with us for this special occasion and, besides the wonderful pictures they gave us, what amazed us the most has been being able to get to know and spend some time with two wonderful people. Surprisingly enough, while organising our wedding day we soon realised we were interested in having beautiful pictures (of course), but most of all we wanted to be surrounded by people we were actually able to connect with, “our people”, even when it came to choosing who would have worked with us on the day. Johanna & Dylan have been a delicate and gracious presence during not only the wedding day, but also when we met in Venice a couple of days before to get few pictures in this city that means so much to me and Riccardo. [here after just a few images of our day in Venice, see their full blog post here] […]
