I’ll never forget the last elopement I photographed here. Every time I return to photograph a Fairy Glen elopement I’m discovering new parts of this magical place. Even now in 2024 I’m blown away by the majestic beauty of this special place.
This emotional elopement took place in Fall on a rainy and overcast day. A time of the year when the ferns turn gold and the landscape transitions into an earthy-coloured canvas.
Nicole and Gustav travelled from LA to tie the knot in a place where they could escape their busy lives in the entertainment industry. A place where they could spend time with the people that meant so much to them – The Isle of Skye!
I met Nicole and Gustav the day before their Fairy Glen elopement and I could immediately see the passion they had for each other and their families. Such kind and down-to-earth people!
The Missing Necklace
After talking to their family I learned the past years had been difficult with the sudden passing of a close family member. I knew their elopement in Scotland was going to be extremely emotional for them and for their families.
I can recall one moment that I’ll never forget that happened during the morning preparation. Nicole’s grandmother who passed away some time ago left behind a necklace. It was a necklace that held great sentimental value to Nicole and for many years it went missing! Something miraculous happened because as Nicole’s Mum was packing her bags for Scotland she found the missing necklace! She secretly brought it with her to Scotland to surprise Nicole on her elopement day.
When Nicole’s Mum surprised her with Grandma’s necklace she erupted in tears. It was a beautiful moment to witness.
As a Fairy Glen elopement photographer, it’s weddings like this that makes me smile. I’m really happy that I can finally share this beautiful story with everyone!
