A Scottish Wedding At Borthwick Castle

It’s been a while since we’ve blogged a wedding but we’re excited to finally share the moody Borthwick Castle wedding photography of Judy and Sarah. J&S were joined by their loved ones from the United States and UK for their wedding celebration at Borthwick which is Nestled in the countryside just a stone’s throw outside of Edinburgh. It was a cold and wet day outside but that didn’t matter because all the love and warmth was inside the castle. There was no better place to be!

As a Borthwick Castle wedding photographer, I found it an absolute treat to shoot in! Borthwick castle’s cosy interior blends historic charm while retaining all the period features and antique furnishings galore. It was inspiring photographing in and around the castle, discovering pockets of light and deep tones in the beautifully decorated rooms.

An Intimate Wedding Ceremony

A heartfelt ceremony unfolded in the atmospheric Garrison room led by the always amazing Hazel-Jane. With a perfect mixture of emotion and humour, Hazel-Jane created a truly unforgettable wedding ceremony—leaving not a single dry eye in the room.

Later we ventured to a nearby castle ruin for portrait photography in the beautiful countryside landscape. The old stone walls of a nearby ruined castle, cloaked in moss made for a stunning backdrop. As the shoot went on, fog began to slowly roll in, giving the scene a mystical quality that felt straight out of a fairy-tale.
Later, back at the castle, everyone was treated to a surprise performance by the drag queen of drag queens, Vanity Von Glow! It was the perfect way to get the evening celebrations off to a flying start and set the tone for the party yet to come!

After a cake cutting, speeches and a hearty feast in the main hall, it was time to hit the dance floor. The music set could be heard in every corner of the castle and everyone partied into the early hours of the morning.
