An outdoor Eilean Shona wedding that I will never forget! Ever wanted to get married on your own private island with your nearest and dearest, nestled away in the peace and tranquillity of Scotland? Justin and Christina did just that for their wedding day last Spring.

C&J and their tightknit crew travelled all the way from the United States to spend some quality time together. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life to chill and celebrate their marriage at one of the most best keep secrets in Scotland. After a slow morning getting ready and writing vows, Christina walked barefoot to meet Justin who was waiting in old ruin close by. They shared a private moment together and when they were ready, they made their way over to their friends and family who were waiting at the ceremony location.

An emotional outdoor wedding ceremony on Eilean Shona

The day prior to their Eilean Shona wedding, Justin and Christina chose a location close by by the water for their outdoor ceremony. Rain, hail or shine they were determined to celebrate outside in the Scottish landscape.

Their emotional ceremony was beautifully performed by a close family friend. Justin and Christina poured their hearts out to one another and not an eye was dry.

After their ceremony the fog rolled in quickly and it started to rain! Instead of running for cover, Justin and Christina chose to instead embrace the Scottish weather and just enjoy being in the moment together. As a wedding photographer it was a moment that I’ll never forget either! The rain and mist created the most beautiful light and atmosphere so naturally I was pressing the shutter like a madman.

Afterwards everyone gathered in a warm, cosy hut to share some beautiful speeches, plenty of hearty food and beverages and dancing into the hours of the morning.

It was an honour to document this special Eilean Shona wedding for Christina and Justin and I hope you enjoy their story!
